How do I make an appointment?

This practice uses an appointment system. To make an appointment call at the surgery or telephone 01786 463831 during office hours. It is not possible to make an appointment outside office hours. Please make a separate appointment for each person wishing to see the doctor. The doctors would appreciate it if all children aged 12 and under are accompanied by a parent or guardian. You will be registered with the practice and you can make an appointment with any of the doctors.

It is sometimes difficult for the doctors to keep to their schedule due to unforeseen emergencies or problems in the surgery - every effort is made to keep appointments to time. If, however, you feel that you have been waiting for an unreasonable length of time, please speak to one of the reception staff. Should there be a likelihood of prolonged unforeseen delay, patients will be informed by the reception staff.

With whom do I make an appointment?

When a doctor appointment is not immediately available, please be aware that our Practice Nurses have a wide remit, including an active role in Screening Clinics, Immunisation, taking blood samples for the laboratory, ear syringing, dressings etc, and may provide a satisfactory alternative.

What about home visits?

If you are too ill to attend the surgery, you should telephone 01738 463831 and request a home visit. If possible, it would be helpful if you could telephone or leave a message before 10.00am for visits that day. Urgent home visits will be attended to as soon as possible. The receptionist may ask for some details of the problem to let the doctor assess the degree of urgency.

How do I get medical care during nights, weekends and public holidays?

If you require urgent medical care between the hours of 6.00pm to 8.00am Monday to Friday, weekends and public holidays, you should contact NHS 24 on 08454 24 24 24. An experienced nurse will provide appropriate advice or arrange further assessment or treatment. Information on NHS24 is available on their website at www.NHS24.com
